Dyke Yoga

Eliminate the BullSHIT: An Introduction to the CREATIVE DYKE, April 15th 2-5 pm

This workshop is for queers who create; this workshop is for queers who believe that the body has something magical to teach them; and that if they tune in, slow down, and listen they will be able to discern some of their own bullshit and alchemize it. This workshop is built on the depth that a discerning yoga practice can offer; and the brilliance of meditation. This workshop will ask you to better understand your own boundaries and to say no when you really want to say no; and to say yes when you are scared but really want that yes.

We cannot grow anything new if we do not plant the seeds. Are you ready to commit to a 30 day practice that will allow you to plan something new? Is there a painting you've had in your head for a while that you'd like to start? or a short story you'd like to complete? Join me and a small group of queers; and commit to a 30 day creative practice. We will use Buddhist mindfulness practices to create space for new ideas about ourselves to emerge; and new habits that support our creative desires. This is for writers, painters, dancers, filmmakers, and other creators of various stripes.

  • $250 regular price, $225  if paid by April 15th

What nobody tells people who are beginners — and I really wish someone had told this to me...is that all of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple of years you make stuff, and it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase. They quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know it’s normal and the most important thing you can do is a lot of work. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions.

For all the queer weirdos who make art; and would like to work in queer community towards an art-making goal. For the artists that are stuck and have trouble starting and continuing and could use some structure and some mighty tools to help them unlock the work they feel called to do. This caters to queer women of the L, B and T varieties, non binary folk, and trans men as well as transmasculine folk. I believe the most potent magic comes from the margins; and comes from deep, deep listening. Join me in the fall! and a small group of queer artists.
